Corporal 6090375 1/5th Battalion The Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) Harry Esdaile was the son of Edwin James and Catherine Grace Esdaile. He attended Heathcote School from 1921 until 1929 when he left with a Technical Scholarship. He lived at Harpers Lane, and his younger brother John also attended Heathcote School. Harry was the herald in Fun in Fairyland in the late 1920s, and John was Prince Jerome. His wife was Vera Maud Esdaile of Ash Vale. His wife was living at The Moorings, Ash Church Road when she wrote to Ash Parish Council about the War Memorial. She stated that he was in H Company, and that he had been killed in action at Mumassib in the Western Desert. A postcard embossed with the address York House, Harpers Road was also received. |
