Private 5500552 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment Died 3 December 1942 aged 23 Remembered on Ash War Memorial Remembered on the Medjez-el-Bab Memorial in Tunisia. There is a note in the Ash Parish Council war memorial file recording Cecil Cook's name and army number. Cecil was born in Ash on 15 April 1919, the son of Joshua Cook and Emily Jane Waters. Emily was the sister of Robert Henry Waters the Ash Coal Merchant. In 1939 he was at Corfe Castle Camp in Dorset. Cecil married a girl named Ivy who was in the WAAF, and they had only been married three months when he died.
